METHYLPARABEN, NF (ME163) is in the paraben family of preservatives and is found in several fruits, in particular blueberries, where it acts as an antimicrobial agent. It is used in cosmetic and personal care products formulations as a preservative and fragrance ingredient. It is an anti-fungal agent often used in a variety of cosmetics and personal care products and can be found in almost all product categories. It is a white crystalline powder that is very slightly soluble in water. The NF grade indicates it is graded suitable for personal care, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications.
